Anna’s parents stood in their daughter’s bedroom, the light pouring in from the windows, her medals hung over chair arms with photos filling her shelves. Time had somehow sprinted by and brought them to this day, her wedding day. And there in the corner stood a bride, so beautiful and grown up, though forever their little girl. Anna’s mom had just buttoned her daughter into her dress, and she now watched from across the room with her arms folded and tears in her eyes. Anna and her father stood facing one another, though his eyes were closed, not yet seeing her in her wedding dress. He opened them and gasped at the woman who stood before him with flowers in her hair and lace training down her gown. He sighed, smiled, and took her in as his eyes became glassy, realizing that she would soon take another name. Her parents then hugged her close and the tears fell, their hearts breaking and bursting at the same time. It was a feeling of losing a piece of their hearts, but relishing in who her heart now belonged to. It was the unique joy a parent feels when seeing their child so happy, yet it comes with the sharp heartache of memories that seem to fade further and further away. It’s a wonderfully and slightly bitter moment to witness, and it’s so special to experience. I may or may not have been crying right along with them…
Anna & George’s wedding day was so intimate and beautiful! Everything occurred at her parent’s house, and the ceremony took place in their back yard with a sunset that completely took our breath away. From the simply sweet flowers to the feeling of being surrounded by family, everyone couldn’t help but smile. And this couple is not only so kind, but they took to their posing like complete pros! I couldn’t believe this was our first time meeting! We had booked their day together the same week as the wedding, but I felt like I had known these people for years. Just to incredibly sweet and the best way to officially end my 2019 season. Anna & George, always remember the vibrant pinks and oranges that glowed behind you as you said your vows. May your marriage be just as rich as that sunset, and your lives be filled with just as much joy that surrounded you on this perfect day!
