It was Christmas Eve in San Diego. They walked with their hands laced together through the park, the weather a typical perfect Winter temperature in the West Coast. They were headed to what she thought was a Christmas family lunch, a “tradition” of his, but she couldn’t have been more wrong in the best way. They crossed onto the beach, the wind whipping through her hair as they looked out onto the water, his stomach in his throat as butterflies danced in his stomach. They came upon an incredible sand castle, professionally and perfectly crafted, shaped like a heart and adorned with flowers. She gasped as she read the words engraved into the sand sculpture, “Will You Marry Me?” She didn’t even realize his sisters were taking photos, and it finally sunk in, this was it! The love of her life, her best friend in the whole world, will be by her side forever. There are no words to describe the elated bliss that Natalie and Cory felt in the moments after she said “Yes.” Only to be compared by the moments after they will say “I Do” next Spring, and I can’t even believe I get to be there!
I absolutely love how Natalie and Cory’s actual engagement started on a beach, and our engagement session ended on a beach. I had the incredible privilege of traveling to San Francisco to capture their engagement session, and between the two of them and their city, my heart could have burst! It was a bucket-list day for me, and I still can’t believe it happened (probably because it flew by)! We explored the city’s hidden and not-so-hidden treasures, searching for stoops with charm and chasing the sunset. Our stops included a view overlooking the bay, a few walkways and porches, The Palace of Fine Arts, Lover’s Lane, and Baker Beach. My jaw was on the floor after every single location, each one more beautiful than the last. Driving through the Presidio and coming down the cliffs overlooking the pastel buildings and beach was something from a fairy tale, and these two added every bit of magic to every spot we ventured. It was a day I will never forget as long as I live. A day where I laid awake that night thinking, “I am SO incredibly blessed.” Natalie and Cory, you two are an absolute dream. I was so honored to be able to experience a slice of your city and of your lives together. You are so incredibly sweet, and your love is absolutely beautiful. You are truly best friends, and witnessing you simply be together is a privilege that I will always treasure. I can’t wait for your wedding, and to see your next adventure begin! I know I’ll always remember this one.
