She was completely caught off guard. She looked down at him on one knee, in shock (the best kind) that this was really happening. They were in their hotel room in San Diego, visiting for a friend’s wedding. They had gone to the beach, which he thought would provide the perfect setting to propose to her, but when they were there with sand between their toes, it didn’t feel right to him. There were people everywhere and kids playing, and he wanted it to be more special, because she is so special to him. And this is what I love so much about their engagement story. It’s so easy to get caught up in the theatrics of proposing to someone, which I totally get, because it really is a monumental occasion. But what’s even more important is the feeling the two of you share in that moment, because it’s one you’ll remember forever, and tell to your children one day. If you’re a huge “The Office” fan like me, you probably cried when Jim proposed to Pam…in the rain at a gas station. Because he simply couldn’t wait, he was so in love, and the moment felt perfect. Becca and Alex shared their perfect moment with no one else around, so completely immersed in their own slice of happiness, and nothing had ever felt more right.
Fast forward to our engagement session, in the most beautiful light with the gorgeous pink cliffs behind us. I had the best time capturing their sweet love, and I truly felt like I’ve known these two forever, even though it was our first time meeting! I’m so happy the desert decided to show off for these two, as they flew all the way from Dallas, and Arizona did not disappoint! But I do know that they bring that magic glow along with them anywhere they go, and I just love their love! They’re the type of people who instantly feel like they’re your best friends, and I’m so incredibly grateful to be a part of this exciting time in their lives. From the moment I met them, it just felt right! Congratulations Becca and Alex, I can’t wait for your big day next year!
