Gabe & Jessica’s Snowy Whimsical Wedding

Crimson and white.

The snow fell in scattered flurries, just enough to stick to your eyelashes, but not enough to soak your clothes, and everything was completely silent. The fog covered the hilltop in the distance in the most eerily alluring mist as he crunched through the fresh blanket of white, his dark coat piercing through the brightness along with the wood branches behind him. His heart thudded fast and loud under his coat. She slowly stepped one boot toward him after another as each of her footprints were smudged by the train of her gown. It was difficult to tell where her dress ended and the snow began, almost as if mother nature was equally dressed up for the occasion. She took a shaky breath and quietly said his name white a cloud of fog blunt to her breath. He turned to face her while a gasp escaped his lips as his mouth hung open, followed by laughing that cut through the silence and was blocked by the tree line. They held each other close as tears filled her eyes, the warmth of their love spreading down to their icy toes; the white powder gently kissed the treetops as he kissed her rosy cheeks. Her red lips smiled under her dark eyelashes, and he held up her damp train as they treaded between the trees toward the edge of the hill to overlook the untouched field below. The snow covered it in a dreamy blanket, almost as if to send the grass and flowers to bed until they wake up in the Spring. And looking back on this magical moment, all I see is crimson and white. The dark roses, her ruby lips, and rosy cheeks perforated against the milky snow and lace gown so gracefully, and it completely took my breath away.

Gabe & Jessica’s wedding was the first of 2017, and I couldn’t think of a better way to start off my season! Every aspect of their day unfolded so perfectly, and they were complete ROCKSTARS! I was pretty nervous pulling up to the venue with dark clouds hanging above and a wet rain dripping down the roof as I stepped over deer tracks. And I’m not going to lie, shooting their bridal portraits was freezing, and I’m pretty sure my toes were numb the entire time, but I was wrapped up in layers and gloves. These two were so willing to go the distance to capture some incredible shots, without complaining, and she wore nothing but a lace gown and a coat between shots! It was windy and wet, we had to ring out her train from the ice water more than once, yet she killed it. They were so elated to be married, it was as if they didn’t even feel the icy chill when we were shooting (though I know they did)! And between me asking her is she was ok every two minutes and squealing, “THIS LOOKS LIKE NARNIA”, they laughed and posed so effortlessly, and I couldn’t ask for more from such a sweet couple. Their bridal party was equally incredible, the girls wearing short skirts and heels, try not to slip on slushy ice yet looking stunning and giving me to most beautiful giggles for their shots! It was a magical day, filled with hot coffee and warm hugs that would make Olaf smile. I’m so incredibly happy for these two, and I can only hope to capture another wedding as whimsical and loved-centered as this one. Congratulations snow love birds, and I will always think of you when I hear these words:

“As long as you love me so, let it snow…”
