Shannon & David’s Rainy Desert Engagement

They applauded excitedly in the dark theater, loving every minute of the whimsical stage production of The Little Mermaid. Shannon smiled as she saw the look on their faces, the two sweet little girls who had changed her life for the better. David’s girls, who had made a bigger impact on her heart than she could have imagined. A voice called her up on stage as she had won some type of “contest,” and she blushed as she walked up, confused and intrigued. Then, he came out to join her on stage, and she knew that this moment was one she would never forget. It was then that he got down on one knee, and her life had never felt more like a fairy tale. Rewind to the first time he ever heard her voice, like Prince Eric hearing Ariel’s voice for the first time, and he knew that he had to meet her. Also like Prince Eric, he was a sailor (though in the Navy, far more respectable) and the line between fairy tale and reality just keeps becoming more vague! Shannon is the producer for the Johnjay and Rich morning show, and David happened to be listening one morning and heard her talking. He looked her up and decided to reach out, and the rest is history…not to mention the most romantic coincidence that I’ve ever seen! Be sure to watch the sweet proposal on Johnjay and Rich here!

Fast forward five months, and we were in the beautiful desert near the Salt River, the ground covered in a green moss from the rain. It smelled like the rich, wet earth beneath our feet, and everything around us glowed in a soft, yellow halo. The beginning of our session started with clear, open skies, and as the clouds rolled in, we readied our umbrellas. And sure enough, the soft sprinkle of rain fell , barely enough to leave tiny spots on David’s shirt that dried within minutes. We snagged some shots with their royal blue umbrella (because it matched their outfits so perfectly), and almost as soon as it started, the rain stopped. It was absolutely wonderful, and I couldn’t help but think in my head “Sha la la la la la…kiss da girl” the entire time 😉 They are SO sweet toward one another, and they love each other so deeply and affectionately, making their smiles undeniably contagious. I was so blessed to be a part of this chapter in their story, and I know they will have the most happily ever after! Thank you both for allowing me to be part of your world!
