2016 Best of Engagements

It happens every time. I’m always sitting in the coffee shop, feet tapping nervously as I wait for them to arrive. “What if they don’t like me? What if we don’t connect?” And almost every time, my worries are in vain, and their love stories, the proposals, the reason they’re meeting me, always leaves me smiling the whole ride home. And these people are the ones who end up taking up a huge piece of my heart with them. My brides and grooms. Sure, there will always be some people I don’t connect with who may choose to go a different route for their wedding, and that’s ok. Because the ones who I meet in that coffee shop, who let me into a small piece of their happiness are the ones who become not only the best clients I could ever ask for, but my dear friends.

Our journey through their crazy wedding experience begins with our engagement session, and I love getting excited texts with outfit advice or just to say, “I can’t wait for Thursday! I’m kind of nervous, but more excited!” Then we laugh the entire time, and my brides give me gold for their portraits (I always hit the jackpot when it comes to these ladies), and we wonder why they were nervous at all! And the GROOMS! They will tell you they hate having photos taken, but that’s a big lie… Some of my biggest hams for the camera are my grooms! When they realize how “GQ” they really are, they end up having fun too, every time. I love getting to work with my couples before their big day, and it’s one of their favorite parts about their wedding. I’m so grateful to be able to capture part one of their first chapter in their love stories, knowing that part two can only be more dazzling. And whether your wedding day has come yet or not, just remember I will never forget hiking through pricker bushes, dodging fire ants, and getting rained on with you because you made it all worth it. Your smiles mean the world to me and I am so blessed to paint your story just after he got down on one knee. Here’s to your bright and beautiful futures!

Disclaimer: I may have tossed a couple anniversary photos in here, because nothing makes my heart happier than seeing married couples love each other as sweetly as they did for their engagement session years ago. One couple is even in here twice; for their engagement and wedding anniversary photos, all in one year! See if you can spot them!
