Bastien & Lauren’s Fuchsia Rose Wedding

Hold me close and hold me fast

The magic spell you cast

This is la vie en rose.

This tune kept playing over and over in my head as I walked across the cool grass and the clean white tablecloths fluttered in the breeze. Mainly because Bastien, the groom, is French and it’s about the only French song I know, and it happens to be one of my favorite songs in existence. It also kept spinning in my mind because Lauren chose a gorgeous pink as their main wedding color. “La vie en rose” literally translates in English to “Life in Pink.” The song paints a blissful picture of how we see the world through rose colored glasses when we are in love…

As the rich magenta linens on the tables were being perfected, and I was positioning Lauren’s sparkly ring to be captured,  I could smell them. Roses. I looked up to see the decorators carrying over the breath-taking floral centerpieces in silver vases. Deep fuchsia and soft pastel pink roses adorned the tables and their sweet perfume hung on the air ever so lightly.

When you press me to your heart

I’m in a world apart

A world where roses bloom.

I smiled to myself and my heart was full. This is what love is all about. The way you can see the world differently because someone makes you feel like you can fly. And this concept could not be more true for Bastien and Lauren. The way they are so in sync and finish each other’s sentences,  the way he holds her, and how she looks at him and can’t help but beam. Prior to this Arizona reception, they had tied the knot in New York, so I was blessed enough to capture their sunny celebration, and that’s exactly what it was! Her guests were so excited to meet her new husband, and all the older women were charmed by his accent! These two are having another reception with Bastien’s family in France, and he told me how excited he is for some of them to meet her.  In the short time I was there, it was clear they they really are better together, and their love is sweet and truly la crème de la crème! I am so happy for them, and they are some of the most caring, deserving people of their new life together. I encourage any married couple to laugh as though you don’t know when you will see each other again, and love so tenderly that your eyes can only see the world through pink lenses.

Give your heart and soul to me

And life will always be
