She looked down at her feet, carefully stepping over sand-dusted rocks on the Mexican beach, the smell of salt lingering on the breeze. With the sounds of the waves in front of her and that of Alex’s footsteps behind her, she almost didn’t see it, a small brown bottle tucked into the sharp rocks by her toes. She picked it up and turned it over in her hands, then gasped at what its contents held. It was a love letter, unlike any other, and it was written especially for her. A message in a bottle that only she was meant to discover. She read the heartfelt words and turned around to find Alex bended on one knee. With family there to witness, he asked Janaye to spend the rest of their lives together…
Fast forward to the day they would say their vows, shortly before heading to the church. Alex stood with his hands in his pockets, looking down with a smile forming in the corners of his mouth that he can’t seem to contain. He slowly turned around to see Janaye, his beautiful bride walking to him in a lace white gown and a smile big enough to match his. The only other sounds that can be heard are birds singing and the trickling the water fountain. This moment was theirs and theirs alone. Never could they have imagined that they could feel happier than they did on that beach last year, but this kiss, this unforgettable embrace as time stood still, this was pure bliss. Just the two of them, in these few minutes that only they will remember, as if they were the only people in the world. It was truly a sacred thing to witness through a tearful smile behind my lens. After their first look, we shot all their beautiful family and bridal party photos before heading over to the church. It was a beautiful ceremony (where I may have teared up for the second time that day) that lead into our light-filled, spring-in-the-desert bridal portraits at sunset and more laughter than I could ever hope for. The night was capped with a glowing lantern release straight out of Tangled while I sang in my head “And at last I see the liiiight,” and hoped others were thinking the same thing…
In all seriousness, I simply adore these two, from their sweet personalities to the way they hold each other oh so tight. Janaye is stunning and equally beautiful on the inside, while Alex is so genuine and has to be the most joy-filled groom I’ve ever had! I mean just look at that smile when he looks at her! I couldn’t have been more blessed when they came into my life, and I’m so grateful to have witnessed this perfect day. Alex and Janaye, I am so incredibly happy for you two, and never lose your pure joy when you’re together! It’s so infectious, so enchanting, and I know that you’ll still be smiling just as big 50 years from now!
