It’s funny how a certain place can go from being somewhere you just pass through, then within moments, it can become somewhere more meaningful than you ever thought possible. We all have that special place that whenever we visit, we’re brought back to an incredible time we’ve spent there. For Kara and John, that place is Sedona. They were visiting the red rocks with their little boy, Xander, enjoying the cooler temperatures and each other’s laughter. She was on her way to a massage when there, in the courtyard, John got down on one knee and completely threw her off guard. Both their hearts were pounding in the best way as he held a ring with three sparkling diamonds that stood out from the others, each representing a member of the little family they’ve created: The two for them, one for Xander. She couldn’t say yes fast enough! And next year, they will be married in Sedona, giving that beautiful place even more sweet sentiment, and it will hold so much meaning in their hearts for the rest of their lives. I can’t wait.
Kara and John’s engagement session was so incredible, not only because they are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, but because they are SO natural in front of the camera! Their love emulates in every way as they hold one another, and their eyes light up so elatedly every time they look at each other. As you can imagine, this made my job so incredibly easy! We stepped through the gravel, kicking up dust and keeping cool in the shade as the sun sank lover over the horizon, giving every cactus a golden halo and a dazzling glow to everything it touched. The desert floor was blanketed in yellow, and her dark hair popped against the orange sunset. We stepped through the harsh desert landscape, avoiding cholla needles, ants, and a snake (the very first time I’ve seen one on a shoot), but you would never know from how these two rocked out their session! I can only guess how stunning their desert wedding is going to be next year, and I’m so extremely thankful to be a part of it! Here’s to creating many more moments many that give these places a special memory, and to more sunsets together for the rest of your lives!
